U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) took several steps indicating a shift in its stance on cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The regulator officially acknowledged multiple ETF applications for digital assets, including Solana, Litecoin, and XRP.

The SEC recognized Grayscale’s filing for a Solana ETF, marking the first time the agency has considered an ETF for a cryptocurrency it previously categorized as a security. This decision sets a deadline of October 2025 for a final ruling.

In addition to the Solana ETF, the SEC began reviewing Grayscale’s application for a Litecoin ETF, while the Cboe exchange filed documents to list and trade shares of four XRP ETFs from Bitwise, 21Shares, Canary Capital, and WisdomTree.

Analysts estimate that an approved Solana ETF could attract between $3 billion and $6 billion in net assets within its first year of trading. Bloomberg Intelligence suggests that these developments reflect a shift in the SEC’s leadership, which appears more open to expanding crypto investment products.

While these acknowledgments do not guarantee approval, they initiate formal review processes and establish clear deadlines for the SEC’s decisions.
